Advent Reflections…Luke 1:1-4

I am writing for you, mighty lover of God, an orderly account of what Jesus accomplished and fulfilled among us. Several eyewitness biographies have already been written, using as their source material the good news preached among us by his early disciples, who were from the beginning loving servants of the Living Expression. Now I am passing on to you this accurate compilation of my own meticulous investigation based on numerous eyewitness interviews. It is appropriate for me to write this for he also appeared to me so that I would reassure you beyond any shadow of a doubt the reliability of all you have been taught of him.

Luke 1:1-4

Mary, your chosen daughter, mother of our Lord…our Emmanuel…God with us…was brought out of obscurity into your glorious light to bring to us through the Holy Spirit…our Savior…our salvation…your one and only son…the spotless lamb who would take away the sins of the world…my sin.

Today, your Holy Spirit hovers over your chosen children so that we continue to bear your Son. Bringing the good news of a risen and reigning Savior…to a dark and hope deferred world…longing to be freed from the chains that hold it captive.

We are the nobodies…ordinary ragamuffins…everyday people…selected as messengers to the same living Hope. A message that proclaims that the captives will be set free…the brokenhearted healed…the afflicted will receive good news. (Isaiah 61:1) This Hope has a name…Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…there will be no end to the increase of his government or of Peace. (Isaiah 9:7a)

Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.

~Luke 1:45
